Each evening Dawn (our speaker) does a segment she calls “God Sightings”. It’s a chance for the kids (and adults, but especially the kids) to talk about where they saw God at work that day. I’ll be posting the audio from these bits throughout the week, so enjoy![audio:09_godsightings_01_monday.mp3]
I’ll be setting up a web cam to watch as everyone gets back from the work sites; one of the first things they do is check their mailboxes. Stop by the site at 4 PM EST to watch live as they get your e-mails, or swing by later to watch the recorded version.
In the past two days, we’ve already had 51 messages sent to our serve participants via the contact form. That’s awesome!
I thought some of you might be interested in knowing how your message gets from the web site to the recipient. When you fill out the form, it sends an e-mail with the message to myself (the Muskegon Serve webmaster and tech guy) and our prayer coordinator. One of us prints up the e-mails each morning, usually around 10 or 11 AM EST, so if you have a message that you want to arrive on a particular day get it in before then 🙂
All Serve participants were assigned an mailbox; these are usually mailboxes for families A-L at our church, but they’re taken over for a week during Serve. Once the messages are printed off, they delivered to the appropriate mailbox, usually along with a small gift from the participant’s prayer partner (everybody has one).
It’s great fun seeing how excited everybody (kids and adults alike) gets over checking their mailbox, so I’ll try to get some video of that tomorrow. Until then, keep sending those messages!
More slideshow goodness with photos from Sunday (breakfast, commissioning service) and Monday (cleaning, landscaping, and working to preserve and protect the dunes).
Today got off to a good start as the Serve participants enjoyed breakfast with their prayer partners for the week. After a group photo, the sanctuary was packed with people and energy as Pastor Ropp challenged everyone to offer their every day lives as a sacrifice for God’s glory. Listen to the service to hear how the congregation responded:[audio:09_commissioning_service.mp3]
Two more days… our worship team had a get-together last night to make sure we’re all set for the upcoming week. Meanwhile work continues on getting the web site up and running, training our volunteers, preparing food, collecting tools, and most importantly: praying.
