Today got off to a good start as the Serve participants enjoyed breakfast with their prayer partners for the week. After a group photo, the sanctuary was packed with people and energy as Pastor Ropp challenged everyone to offer their every day lives as a sacrifice for God’s glory. Listen to the service to hear how the congregation responded:[audio:09_commissioning_service.mp3]
Two more days… our worship team had a get-together last night to make sure we’re all set for the upcoming week. Meanwhile work continues on getting the web site up and running, training our volunteers, preparing food, collecting tools, and most importantly: praying.
A brief look at what the entire week was about. Intended for use during a Sunday service.
The last work day rocks the house; all the usual suspects plus a special message in the flowers, a four course dinner, and an over-the-top worship time.
The roof looks more finished than not, ramps are tested, and yet more painting and cleaning ensue.
Work continues: ramps are built, trees felled (though not by us), and shingles begin appearing on the roof.
The teams head out to the various sites for the first day of work.
Sunday began with a group photo. The Serve team attended a commissioning service at the host church (Calvin CRC) an then enjoyed a day of rest, fun, and fellowship before a week of hard work.
Day one saw the various youth groups arrive, get settled in, and enjoy some time at the beach.
