Muskegon Serve is one of the sites hosting a Project Serve short term missions trip.  For one week, we host almost one hundred high school students from around the country (and Canada!) as they serve various community organizations.

Though the kids will work hard, our food (their physical fuel) is awesome.  They will also have time, through nightly worship services, small groups, and personal devotions, to dig into some serious spiritual food.  This ain’t no baby milk.

This year’s work projects include everything from helping protect sand dunes from erosion to building home entrance ramps for families with accessibility needs. If you know someone at Muskegon Serve this week, why not send them some encouragement?

About Muskegon

Muskegon is the largest city on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan. The city has an abundance of lakeshore property, between Muskegon Lake, Mona Lake, and of course, Lake Michigan. Local and state parks (including P.J. Hoffmaster and Muskegon State Parks) are popular attractions for visitors looking to enjoy the sandy dunes and forests that surround the lakes.

About Calvin CRC

Calvin CRC’s purposes are found in these verses:

‘Love the Lord your God with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37–40)

Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’ (Matthew 28:18–20)

These statements of Jesus provide us with five over-riding purposes of the church:

  • Worship: Love the Lord your God
  • Ministry: Love your neighbor as yourself
  • Evangelism: Go and make disciples
  • Fellowship: Baptizing them
  • Discipleship: Teaching them to obey
